Both were born in Colcord. They were high school sweethearts and graduated from Jay High School.

The couple first made their home in Tulsa before moving to Catoosa. They later moved to a farm in the Sequoyah area where they raised cattle.

They are both members of the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church where Dale has served as deacon for 35 years and Ida Belle has taught the Beginners Sunday School Class for 35 years. She is active in the Women’s Auxiliary.

They have traveled extensively, making four trips to Alaska where they spent a month each time fishing for red salmon and going on cruises up in the glaciers. They have traveled to all the states with the exception of one.

The couple’s children include Ivan Long of Claremore, and Tina and Mike Butler of Bixby. Grandchildren are Jake and Tyler Butler.

An anniversary celebration is planned for April 21, 2-4 p.m. at Claremore Community Center.
