Francis A. Heiman and Ruth A. (Sowatsky) Heiman of Claremore are celebrating 50 years of marriage. The couple was wed on June 16, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clover, Idaho.
Francis was born and raised west of Sioux Falls, S.D. Ruth was born in Wauseon, Ohio and raised in Saginaw, Mich. They met in Idaho after Francis’s four years of service in the Air Force. Ruth was teaching in a country Lutheran school near Twin Falls, Idaho.
After their marriage, they traveled to Tulsa so Francis could attend Spartan Institute of Technology. They later moved to southern California to continue his education. He joined American Airlines in April 1959. After 15 years with American, they transferred to the Tulsa base and made their home on a county place west of Claremore. Francis retired in 1994.
The couple’s family includes children: Kathy and Jerry Rosamond of Victoria, Minn., Dave and Paula Heiman of Tulsa, and Mark and Laura Heiman of Northfield, Minn.; grandchildren: Joshua Rosamond, Sara Rosamond, Katie Heiman, Jamie Heiman, and Eleanor Heiman.
The Heimans’ children and grandchildren are hosting a celebration on Sunday, June 24, 2-5 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 220 N. Seminole in Claremore. They hope friends will stop by and share in the celebration.
