Pennycuicks celebrate golden wedding anniversary


Richard and Margaret (Butler) Pennycuick are celebrating 50 years of marriage. They were wed Aug. 18, 1957 at First Baptist Church in Birch Tree, Mo.

Richard and Margaret graduated form high school in Birch Tree. They both chose to be teachers and earned B.S. degrees in education at Missouri State University in Springfield. Their master’s degrees are from Drury University in Springfield, Mo. and Webster University in St. Louis, Mo.

Richard was a teacher, counselor, and school administrator for 35 years. Margaret taught in elementary schools for 28 years.

The couple’s family include three children: Col. Rick Pennycuick and wife, Major Tracy Pennycuick, stationed in England; Richelle Helbig and husband, Tim, of Inola; and Mark Pennycuick and wife, Alessandra, of Eureka, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren: Jena Christian; Erika, Catie, Alex, Alyssa Pennycuick; Margo, Hannah, Hutch Helbig; and Emma and Ethan Pennycuick.

Richard and Margaret are active members of North Park Trinity Baptist Church in Claremore. Their retirement years are being spent enjoying their grandchildren, and Richard in an avid golfer.

A celebration will be held Sunday, Aug. 19, 2-4 p.m. at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Richelle and Tim Helbig.
