Andrews mark 50 years of marriage

Charles and Martha (Cox) Andrews are planning a celebration in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple was wed June 28, 1957 at Foyil United Methodist Church.

Martha was born in Little Rock, Ark., and graduated from Claremore High School. Charles was born and raised in Foyil and graduated from Foyil High School. After high school, Charles enlisted in the United States Army where he served for over two years in Germany. He was honorable discharged after two years of service as a Corporal. Charles then went on to attend the University of Tulsa for three years where he majored in Business Administration, and he also graduated with a business degree from Draguens Business College.

Shortly after returning home from the Army, Charles and Martha met one warm summer night while cruising on Main Street in Claremore.

Martha was a homemaker for many years caring for their three children and then began her career at Wal-Mart, where she worked for 18 years until she retired to care for her grandchildren. Charles worked for a major oilfield company for over 25 years. In 1986, he established his own corporation called Danco Pump & Supply Company in Tulsa. The oilfield equipment and pump company is operated by his two daughters, Denise and Susan, while Charles serves full-time as the president, owner, and general manager.

In their leisure time, Charles and Martha travel with their two daughters and their families, and spend countless hours enjoying their eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The couple also spends summers at their vacation home on Grand Lake. Martha is also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Busy Bees of Claremore. Charles and Martha have resided in Claremore for the past 50 years.

The couple have three children: son Bill and wife Jana Andrews of Claremore; daughter Denise and husband Mitch Richter of Broken Arrow; and daughter Susan and husband Jay Hill of Owasso; and grandchildren: Emerald, Wesley, Jeremiah, Amanda, DeWayne, Cheyenne, Diamond, Terrance, Chasity, Blake, and Landon.

The celebration will be Saturday, Aug. 18, 6-10 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Claremore. The Shockwave Cloggers, of Moor’s Dance Studio in Broken Arrow, will perform at 6:30 p.m.
