Claremore junior catcher Matt Whatley smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning Thursday afternoon to help spark the Class 5A No. 2-ranked Zebras past Grove, 5-4, in the opening game of the Tiger/Zebra Classic at Legendary Legion Field. Claremore’s Jacob Teague also hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Zebras improved to 11-3 on the year.
