Transformer failure sparks temporary water rationing

CLAREMORE — The City of Claremore is currently experiencing a power outage at its water treatment plant.

A transformer was blown at the plant and we do not have a replacement at this time, Communications Director Cassie Woods said.

“We are asking citizens to conserve water for the next 24 to 48 hours,” Woods said.

The city currently does not have the capability of purifying water during the power outage.

The city does not currently have a replacement part, but is working to get a generator to continue plant operations, according to Woods.

For more information contact Woods at (918) 341-1325.
