UPDATE: Recount underway, no dramatic changes after 3 precincts counted

CLAREMORE — The recount of ballots from the Rogers County Sheriff's election has revealed no dramatic changes.

The election board recessed for lunch at noon and will reconvene the hand count at 1 p.m.

Only three precincts had been re-tallied,  Precinct 6, 7 and 10. Cole Butler who asked for the recount had gained one vote and Sheriff Scott Walton lost one vote.

Butler asked for 11 precincts to be recounted. Walton asked for five precincts to be re-examined.

If after the 11 precincts are re-tallied by hand, Butler can end the process is he chooses.

The recount formally began after Rogers County District Judge Dwayne Steidley head testimony from Rogers County Election Board Secretary Julie Durmody, Stacey Arnold, deputy election board secretary, Undersheriff Jonathan Sappington and precinct worker Shelia Bougher.

Steidley ruled the ballots had been properly secured since the June 26 election.
