Claremore's Howe, Whatley receive OCA All-State Baseball honors

Verdigris' Skalnik tabbed All-State infielder

CLAREMORE — Claremore High School graduates Bryce Howe and Matt Whatley aren't quite finished playing baseball together.

The Zebra duo received Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Large East honors Friday afternoon, and have officially signed to further their college careers at Oral Roberts University.

Along with the Claremore standouts, Verdigris High School graduate Ryan Skalnik also was named to the OCA All-State team as a third baseman.

Skalnik, a four-time Class 3A state champion infielder at Verdigris, will continue his college baseball career at Neosho County Community College.

The complete All-State baseball teams will be announced in Tuesday's Claremore Daily Progress.
