Water emergency prompts closure of BA eateries

BROKEN ARROW —

The Tulsa Health Department says Broken Arrow restaurants that use city water must stop serving food until the city lifts its emergency boil order.

The city issued the boil order Tuesday after a water main break threatened the city's water supply.

The health department says restaurants that serve open food must cease operations immediately until the boil order is lifted. The health department says water could contaminate food, equipment and utensils.

Retailers that sell packaged food can continue to do so but they must stop serving drinks.

The health department says that once the boil order is lifted, restaurants will need to flush their water supply, throw out ice and sanitize all equipment that comes in contact with food.
