UPDATE: Father and son rescued, one missing after boat capsizes

CLAREMORE — A man is missing after a boat he and two other men were fishing in capsized just after noon Thursday on Oologah Lake, according to the Rogers County Sheriff's Department.

The three men were fishing during the morning when their boat turned over, Deputy Sheriff Jerry Smittle said.

The father and son were able to swim to shore and were pulled from the water by a person who lives near the lake and heard the men yelling for help.  Both were sent to area hospitals, one by LifeFlight helicopter and  the other by ambulance, according to Smittle.

The third man, believed to be the younger man's cousin, is still missing, according to Smittle.

"Whitecaps are almost 5 feet high," Smittle said.

Weather reports indicate winds are at 20-30 mph.

Smittle said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol has a boat on the water and is using sonar to locate the the man.

The scene is located about two miles north of Oologah Dam, on the west side of the lake. It's just southwest of the Will Rogers Birthplace state park. The boat capsized near 10743 4120 Road.
