Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation called to investigate

CLAREMORE — Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation officials were called to Claremore on Monday, following the reported death of a  Rogers County Jail inmate.

According to OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown, Rogers County Sheriff’s officials contacted OSBI offices the morning of Monday, April 29 to report the death of inmate Leslie Paul Jones of Chelsea.

Jones, 47, was reportedly found dead in his cell shortly after 5:30 a.m.

Although initial reports suggested Jones had electrocuted himself, Brown could not confirm this to be the cause of death, saying the official cause “would be up to the findings of the Medical Examiner.”

According to court records, Jones was arrested in December 2011 and was in Rogers County Jail, charge with numerous sex crimes including incest, rape, lewd or indecent proposals/acts to a child. His trial was scheduled to begin Monday.
