NTC begins master planning

Pryor campus hosts meeting; identifies education, facility needs

Northeast Technology Center (NTC) is hosting a series of meetings to assist with planning and development of a master plan for the vocational education institution which serves the greater northeast Oklahoma region, including all or portions of eight counties.

A May 1 meeting was held by the Master Building-Plan Committee on the Pryor Campus. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss how NTC can grow into the future and meet the needs of those in the community. Architects from Boyton-Williams & Associates conducted the meeting and will be responsible for collecting the information necessary to develop an NTC Master Plan.

Several NTC instructors and students joined in the discussion about the long-range plan for NTC. Local representatives, including a high school principal, an instructor, and members of the Pryor Fire Department, also offered their opinions.

As brought out in the meeting, one aspect of the NTC Master Plan includes staying up-to-date with training and facilities. This includes eliminating building leaks, updating facilities, and planning new construction.

Several Pryor-Campus needs were discussed in the meeting including:

An adult education center

HVAC and electrical upgrades

Adequate site drainage

Additional Health Science classes to meet growing demand

Fire and EMT Training Classes

A comprehensive training facility for such classes

Additional storage space

Another aspect of improvement covered was the current NTC class offering.
