Regional community action agency closes for reorganization

SHAWNEE, Okla. — The Central Oklahoma Community Action Agency closed Monday to undergo a 20-day evaluation and reorganization. The action shouldn’t affect Stillwater’s Mission of Hope shelter or Stillwater Community Health Center, the agency’s Executive Director Rebecca Stone said.

“We have not closed our doors permanently. We anticipate being fully operational again on Monday, June 30, 2014,” Stone said.

A large number of the agency’s staff has been furloughed and may be brought back on as their program becomes fully operational. The temporary closure will affect the Shawnee office and client services in Pottawatomie, Payne, Cleveland, Lincoln, Logan and Seminole counties. The agency’s weatherization program also will be affected.

“We will continue to keep our staff, our clients and the media informed of the progress of our re-organization and re-opening schedule,” she said.

The agency’s Facebook page is facebook.com/COCAAFRIENDS. Its website is www.cocaa.org.
