Burglary suspect returned to Ada

Ada — A man charged in Pontotoc County with first-degree burglary and attempted first-degree robbery in November was returned to Ada Tuesday.

Audie Sullivan, 34, was wanted for an alleged home invasion. He was arrested in Wichita Falls, Texas, on unrelated charges.

After facing charges in Texas, Sullivan was transferred to Pontotoc County Justice Center by Pontotoc County sheriff’s deputies on an arrest warrant with a $1 million bond.

He appeared — via video — before Judge Steven Kessinger Wednesday where his bond was kept at $1 million. He is due back in court Feb. 19.

According to police, the burglary and attempted robbery occurred in the 1000 block of East Sixth Street in Ada Nov. 15.

A man knocked on the door and asked the resident, Rohit Kapoor,  permission to use the bathroom. When Kapoor refused, the man forced his way into the house and fought with Kapoor.

Kapoor said the intruder held a gun to his head and demanded money. Kapoor said he told the man he didn’t have any money and pleaded with him to leave as the gun was held to his head.

“I closed my eyes and said, ‘OK, you want to kill me, kill me. I don’t have any money, I don’t have anything,’” Kapoor said.

Kapoor took out his phone to call police and was threatened before he was punched and pistol-whipped on the head several times, he said.

Kapoor said that before leaving the house, the intruder threatened to kill him if he called police.

Kapoor identified Sullivan as the intruder from a photo lineup of six people, police said.
