CLAREMORE — Fall means cooler weather, which often means mouthwatering cravings for chili. This Saturday at Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs, you can satisfy those taste buds at the Swing Dance Jubilee and Chili Festival, benefiting the Gatesway Foundation.

Beginning at 11 a.m., $5 taster kits can be purchased to sample chili in three categories: verde, salsa and traditional red. The chili cook-off is sanctioned by the International Chili Society.
“We’re so pleased to be able to organize an event like this and partner with local businesses and the International Chili Society,” said Gatesway CEO Judi Myers. “We hope to have a great turnout, as all proceeds will help Gatesway Foundation provide programs and services to individuals with developmental disabilities.”
The event will feature bands such as Travis Kidd, A Bar Bunkhouse Boys and The Texas Playboys with Leon Rausch. Live shows begin at 1 p.m. inside the Dog Iron Saloon.
“We have a strong relationship with the Gatesway Foundation because of the annual balloon festival, and we’re happy to help even more by hosting the chili festival this weekend,” said Ali Aguilar, marketing manager for Will Rogers Downs. “It will be a fun day, with this event and live horse racing beginning at 12:30 p.m.”
