Toy trains at Christmas

Claremore Museum of History offers special display

CLAREMORE —

A treasured holiday memory for some involves a toy train running around a beautifully lit Christmas tree. For generations, the love of toy trains has been passed down.
The Tulsa Garden Railroad Club is sharing their love of trains at the Claremore Museum of History this holiday season.
The club specializes in G-scale outdoor train displays and by special invitation will be bringing the trains indoors for a limited time.
A display will be in place beginning Dec. 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. prior to the Claremore Christmas Parade.
It will arrive just in time for the Christmas season and will run at the museum until the middle of January.
The event will be open each Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. after the opening weekend.
Admission is free to see the display, but donations will be accepted to continue to fund the development of the museum.
The Rogers County Historical Society is hosting the club at the museum and volunteer Tom Poole thanked the club Thursday night for their participation.
“We want to thank you for your participation,” Poole said. “We hope the display will bring people into the museum.”
The train display will feature winter or holiday scenes and the sights and sounds of the railroad.
Club representatives describe the display as a “Christmas train wonderland” with something for all ages.
The Historical Society is trying to place an emphasis on the importance of the railroads in the history of Claremore, through the museum.
Once the museum is completed it will feature a railway display, according to Poole.
