Safenet’s Festival of Trees event, auction this Friday

As the Christmas season draws closer, so do the holiday traditions. Among them is Safenet Services’ Festival of Trees Gala & Auction.
This year, the annual event will be Friday in the Centennial Center Ballroom at Rogers State University.
Safenet Services’s Festival of Trees Gala & Auction event will include a silent auction, beginning at 6 p.m. and the live auction at 7 p.m. Tickets to the Gala & Auction are $40 each and includes wine and hors d’oeuvres.
As in previous years, the annual event features trees large and small that have been decorated by individuals and businesses in a variety of styles.
The trees, wreaths and a host of other holiday items will be showcased in live and silent auctions, with proceeds going to benefit Safenet.
“The successes of our previous Festival of Trees events has been amazing — the amount of support we receive from the community has just overwhelmed us,” said Susan Wolfenbarger, assistant director of Safenet Services.
“The generosity of Claremore citizens is tremendous — people hear of a need in their community and they step up and meet it. It’s incredible.”
The focus of past Festival of Trees events has been on the building fund, but with the shelter now completed, proceeds this year will go towards ongoing client support, services, and more.
“We’ve already expanded our services and tripled in size — in terms of the number of beds we have — since we opened our doors at the new facility,” said Donna Grabow, Safenet Services director. “We’re almost always at capacity in our 35-bed facility and we’ve always got a waiting list — the day we opened our new center, we literally had people waiting at our door to get inside.”
Safenet’s Festival of Trees is a fun way to help a serious problem (domestic abuse), Grabow said, with a wide assortment of unique and one-of-a-kind baskets and trees to be offered up for auction.
