Tulsa Praise Orchestra to perform at First United Methodist Church

CLAREMORE —

The Tulsa Praise Orchestra will perform an Independence Day-inspired concert July 6 during morning services at First United Methodist Church of Claremore. The big band ensemble will take place at the 8:30 a.m. Heritage Service, 9:45 a.m. Blue Jeans Service and the 11 a.m. Generations Service.
TPO will lead the entire patriotic service at 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tunes will include a repertoire of gospel and patriotic songs. The orchestra will be joined by internationally-known singer Ernestine Dillard. Dillard is best known as the “woman with the voice who helped heal America” after her rendition of “God Bless America” during a national television broadcast of the memorial service for the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.
Also joining the orchestra will be the Frontline Singers. Many of the singers performed with Dillard in 2011 for the 125th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty in New York City, N.Y.
The Tulsa Praise Orchestra was formed in 1995 by trumpeter Bob Archer who has since helped build the group into an organization that includes professional-level musicians who reside throughout the state from Tulsa to Oklahoma City. Claremore residents who are members of the orchestra, include Steve Janke, featured tenor and alto sax player; Danny Duncan, drummer and Frontline Singers Olivia Duncan and Sandy Atwood.
TPO has performed nearly 500 concerts throughout Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Kansas, New Mexico, New Jersey and New York. Recently, the orchestra performed several events for U.S. Congressman Jim Bridenstine, U.S. Senator candidate T.W. Shannon, governor Sarah Palin, senator Ted Cruz and senator Mike Lee.
