The William W. Barnes Children’s Advocacy Center is hosting an Open House on Feb. 10 to celebrate a move to their new location at 214 E. Patti Page in Claremore.
The event is from 4 to 6 p.m. and refreshments will be served for guests.
The Claremore-based non-profit children’s advocacy center opened in 2001 and serves children in Rogers, Craig and Mayes counties annually.
The center performs forensic interviews, medical evaluations and mental health treatment to help child crime victims and their families.
It helps prepare victims for court and coordinates the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse victims. Services are provided at no cost by appointments scheduled through law enforcement or the Department of Human Services.
The center strives to reduce trauma to child abuse victims, in a safe, child friendly environment.
The new facility offers more space to guests of the center and features office space for medical examinations and forensic interviews.
Local attorneys, physicians, victim advocates and community leaders serve on the board of directors and oversee operations of the center.
