Rogers County United Way will kickoff their 2012 fundraising campaign with a free outdoor concert from 7:30-9 p.m. Thursday at Ne-Mar Center in Claremore.
This year’s kickoff theme will be “Bikes and Blues” and will feature the musical group “Sunday Moan.”
This year’s goal is $500,000. A goal towards which Rogers County United Way launches with Thursday’s kickoff concert/event.
Activities for children are planned. The will be tie-dyed shirts, a magician, a balloon artist and more for children of all ages.
Motorcyclists are encouraged to come and display their rides for the enjoyment and appreciation of the community; and persons with vintage and classic cars are also encouraged to come and display their vehicles.
Restaurants are also available in Ne-Mar to provide food and drink, and there will be a concession stand with popcorn and cotton candy set up. Proceeds from sales will benefit the Rogers County United Way.
Additionally, United Way member agencies will be on-hand to showcase their activities in the community, distribute literature, and inform the public about the importance and role of the United Way, and the “2012 Campaign Trailblazers” will be introduced.
The “Trailblazers” are companies who have already conducted United Way campaigns to jump start the fund raising, among them, Rogers County Abstract, RCB Bank, Summit Rehab, Claremore Compounding and J&J Pharmacy.
“Folks are invited to come out to enjoy the carnival atmosphere of the evening, the concert, and the motorcycles, to help get the 2012 United Way campaign off to a wonderful start,” said Donna Ross, RCUW executive director.
