The Country Fare Quilters Guild will host the annual quilt show Friday and Saturday at the Claremore Community Center, 2301 N. Sioux Ave. Each year, the guild hosts the event to raise funds to support guild community projects.
The show features 140 quilts created by local quilters to be judged and on display.
This year, the show will feature a professional quilt appraiser and visitors can bring their own antique or other special quilt to be evaluated for $35.
A donation quilt featuring individual blocks made by various members of the Country Fare Quilters Guild will be raffled at 3 p.m. on Saturday and patrons need not be present to win.
The guild is selling chances on the quilt for $1/ticket or six tickets for $5 and tickets can be purchased during quilt show.
In addition to the donation quilt, patrons will have the opportunity to bid on a variety of custom aprons to be auctioned daily at 2:45 p.m. The show will feature quilting demonstrations, a small quilt auction Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. and viewers can vote for the blue ribbon viewer’s choice award.
The first place quilt winner is awarded not only the ribbon but also $200 along with other cash awards for each category.
Area quilting vendors will be present giving visitors an opportunity to purchase fabric and other quilting supplies.
Quilting demonstrations and bed turning events will be scheduled throughout the show.
Admission for the event is $5. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
