Catalayah student writes tribute to teachers

CLAREMORE —

Catalayah Music Teacher Steven Janke recently challenged his students to write meaningful poems as a classroom activity for the end of the school year.
Fifth grader Lauren Stover decided to create a poem as a tribute to her teachers.
The poem was put to jazz chords written by Janke and students sang the song during the commencement ceremony.
“It is an outstanding poem,” said Janke. “Einstein said ‘Imagination is far more important than knowledge,’ so I challenged the whole class to use their imagination.”
Other students accompanied Janke with two drum sets and a bass guitar during the class performance.

Sadly but so we have to go.
We wish we could stay for just one more day.
We started to learn everything we need.
Like how to add, write and read.
Follow the rules and we’ll all have fun.
Because we know our teachers are number one.
Have a happy day and we’re on our way.
