Rice Funeral Service’s annual Tree of Remembrance Service has been reschedule for 2 p.m. on Dec. 15 due to weather.
The service allows persons who have lost someone recently or in the past to remember and celebrate their life. Rice started this yearly tribute more than 20 years ago as a means for friends and family members to honor a loved one’s memory, in an atmosphere of shared loss, surrounded by others who also have suffered the loss of a loved one, and be comforted in their remembrance.
During the service, a tree will be decorated with angel ornaments inscribed with the name of deceased loved ones. Each family hangs their ornament and is allowed time to speak of their lost loved ones. Attendees wishing for Rice to prepare a personalized angel ornament should contact the funeral home in advance to let them know they will be in attendance and the name of the person to be honored during this year’s service.
