Zipper Q fundraiser benefits Claremore’s Zip Gordon
Staff Reports Staff Reporter
The charity event Zipper Q will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Nut House located on 2667 S. Hwy. 66.
Fundraiser donations benefit 4-year-old Zip Gordon of Claremore, who was diagnosed with the disease F.O.P. (Fibrodysplashia Ossidicans Progressiva) in July 2011.
F.O.P is an extremely rare disease of the connective tissue, sometimes referred to as Stone Man Syndrome. It causes bone to form in muscles, tendons and connective tissues, enclosing the patient into a second skeleton.
After the diagnosis, family and friends decided to put on Zipper Q to help raise money for F.O.P. research through the International F.O.P. Association.
The community event will include a BBQ cookoff, a silent and live auction, music from The Vikings and a 2012 Dodge Ram truck giveaway. BBQ tasting will be from 4-6 p.m. For those interested in making donations to the silent auction, email Kris Beyer at email@example.com.
To make donations directly to the IFOPA foundation go online to www.ifopa.org. Raffle tickets for the Dodge Ram giveaway are available at zipperq.com/raffletruck for $25 or 5 for $100.
