Pete and Mary Helen Powell DeLozier exchanged wedding vows on Dec. 22, 1956.

The couple will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006.

Pete and Mary Helen were born and raised in Chelsea, attended Chelsea Public Schools, and have worked in Chelsea most of their married life. They operated Gibble Gas Station in Chelsea for a number of years.

Both have been active in the Chelsea community throughout the years (Chelsea Round Up Club, schools, church and civic functions.)

Pete retired from the Chelsea Gas Authority and Chelsea Volunteer Department, was named Chelsea’s 1987 Citizen of the Year, and served in the Armed Forces for two years, including 13 months in Korea.

Since his retirement, he has worked part time for Four D Energy.

Mary Helen was employed at Chelsea Municipal Authority for 27 years before it was sold to PSO.

The DeLoziers are members of First Baptist Church. They spend a lot of their time working in the church and enjoying watching their grandchildren participate in sports and various activities.

In honor of the occasion, an anniversary celebration will be held Dec. 23, from 2-5 p.m. at First Baptist Church, located at Fifth and Beech Streets in Chelsea. The event will be hosted by their children and grandchildren, Kent, Regina, Kedra, Torey and Drew from Bolingbrook, Ill., and Greg, Trish, Gage and Taylor from Claremore. The presence of family and friends is the only gift requested.
