Tobie Richard Titsworth III and Laura Jeanne Barnes Titsworth of Claremore are celebrating 40 years of marriage.

They were wed Dec. 24, 1966 in Beggs.

Jeanne was born in Enid and graduated from high school in Toppenish, Wash. She then attended Oklahoma State University, receiving an associate of arts degree, and later attended Rogers State College.

Tobie was born in Henryetta and graduated from Beggs High School. He received his B.S., M.S. and Ed.D. degrees from OSU.

It was while he was an Agriculture Education major that he met Jeanne who was working as a stenographer/secretary for the OSU Extension Service.

The couple have lived in Claremore since 1979. Tobie is Deputy Superintendent at Northeast Technology Center. Jeanne is a homemaker and has coached and played soccer and softball through the Park and Recreation Department for many years.

Active members of North Park Trinity Baptist Church, Tobie serves as Education Minister and Jeanne is on the decorations and hosting committees.

The Titsworths’ family includes son Scottie Titsworth and wife Lauri of Claremore, and daughter Stephanie Alves and husband John of Breesport, N.Y. Their grandchildren are Edie Titsworth, Dorie Titsworth, Ashley Luce, Alexandra Luce, Sarah Alves, Hannah Alves, Christy Alves and Abby Alves.
