Getting to know the Claremore City Council candidates: Bryan McDonald

Bryan McDonald

Editor’s note: The following is a submitted campaign announcement.

I am a lifelong resident of Claremore. I attended Claremore Public Schools and started my auto repair and painting business here in 1979. I joined the Claremore Fire Deptartment in 1984 and advanced to the rank of Captain before retiring last August.

My wife Dianna (Whaley) and I have been married for 31 years, and we have 3 children: Annie, Savannah (married to Randal Barbee) and Del Ray (married to Chelsea Brittain). We have one grandchild, Braden Barbee.

My hobby is collecting and restoring classic cars. I also enjoy bicycling and am a 22-year participant in the MS 150, a 150 mile Bike-A-Thon that raises money to benefit folks who have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

I am a lifelong member of the Claremore Seventh Day Adventist Church, a Master Mason and member of Will Rogers’ Lodge No. 53, a member of the Claremore Chamber of Commerce, and a review board member and substitute instructor at Northeast Area Vo-Tech.

The two main issues I will focus on include correcting the traffic problems that hinder emergency responders and joining the 12 other cities in our area that have adopted an electric rate that is lower than the Oklahoma average.
