Kelly Martin of Ardmore and Jim Bickford of Claremore were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. May 20, 2006 in Parker Chapel of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Rev. Ken Blank, formerly of First Presbyterian Church of Ardmore, officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Philip and Terri Martin of Ardmore. She is the granddaughter of Barbara and Harold Lerwick of Albuquerque, N.M.

Kelly graduated from Ardmore High School in 1999. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio and graduated with a degree in Biology with Honors in 2003. She then attended the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and graduated in December 2005 with a Physician Assistant degree. Kelly is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was active in campus ministry at Trinity. She is now employed by a group of GI Specialists in Alexandria, Va.

The groom is the son of Cynthia Bickford and the late Edward Bickford of Claremore. He is the grandson of Esther Semones and the late Ray Semones of Tulsa, and James H. and Susan Bickford.

Jim is a 2001 graduate of Claremore High School and a May 2005 graduate of the University of Oklahoma with degrees in Economics and Political Science and a minor in Religious Studies. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was active at the Wesley Foundation at OU. He has completed one year of studies at Georgetown University Law Center.

He will work for a law firm this summer before returning to school.

The bride’s colors were black, pink and silver. She wore a one-piece strapless A-line gown with corset back. Layers of shimmering organza asymmetrically cascaded toward the hem in three tiers.

The delicate floral embroidery edged the tiers of organza, framing the gown with embellishments of Swarovski crystal, pearls, glass beads, buglebeads, seed beads and sequins. She carried a bouquet of light pink and white roses and Calais lilies.

Maid of Honor was Lindsay Martin, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Katie Marrow, college friend; Julie Porter, high school friend; Shelley Beatrice, cousin of the bride; Ashley Bickford, sister of the groom; Katy Fitzhugh, college friend; and Lexi Smith, college friend. Leslie Beatrice was the Honorary Bridesmaid.

Ben Bickford, brother of the groom, served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Tyler Gray, college friend; Jason Brown, college friend; Colt Edwards, college friend; Ryan Biesemeyer, high school friend; Adam Rogers, high school friend; and Travis McGill, high school friend.

A reception followed at the San Antonio Museum of Art.

Following a honeymoon trip to Jamaica, the couple resides in Arlington, Va.

Today, Sunday, June 4, a reception to honor the new Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bickford will be held from 2-4 p.m. in the Parlor of First Presbyterian Church in Claremore, 102 E. Fourth Street.
