A cornerstone used at the building which houses the Lynn Riggs Memorial and Claremore Museum of History has been the subject of controversy. Last week, as an Oklahoma Black Lives Matter group objected to the inclusion of a symbol commonly known as a swastika on the stone, which has been part of the building since its original construction in 1930s. The building, located at 121 North Weenonah Ave. in Claremore, was built to serve as the Claremore library, which it did until the early 2000s, when it was briefly used as the Claremore Fire Administration building. The Claremore Museum of History currently occupies the location.
