Claremore Police Department accepting donations for relief in El Reno

CLAREMORE — Staff members of the Claremore Police Department are currently collecting disaster relief items for El Reno tornado victims.

Patrol Sgt. Jeff Barlow and volunteers will transport the donated items from the public to El Reno on June 16.

Barlow said he wanted to provide for victims in smaller communities who may not be getting what they need.

CPD had success with a similar collection after the Joplin tornado two years ago.

“I called representatives from the Red Cross and they gave me the location of  a relief center where we will be taking the items,” he said.

Barlow and volunteers will load items into the CPD emergency relief trailor before hauling supplies to the Jenks Simmons Field House in El Reno.

In additon, disaster relief centers will remain open in Moore, Little Axe, Shawnee and Carney.

Items still needed include- health and hygiene products, cleaning supplies, bottled water, non-perishable food items, child and infant care products, tools, shovels, rakes, gloves, safety wear and dog and cat food.
