Commissioners to meet in new building

CLAREMORE —

The Rogers County Commissioners will be meeting 9 a.m. Monday in the new courthouse on the first floor in the commissioner’s meeting room.
It will be the first meeting in the new building and will be open to the public.
Visitors should continue to use the overflow parking for the courthouse, located behind the Rogers County Election Board.
Although the new building is open, moving will continue next week and the old courthouse will be closed to the public.
The agenda for the meeting will include two public hearings involving the preliminary plats for Twin Creeks at Stone Canyon Phase IV and Patio Homes at Stone Canyon.
Additionally, the commissioners will discuss and possibly decide to enter into an agreement with Everbridge Early Warning System.
The system could serve to provide Rogers County citizens with advance warning of several county functions including road maintenance, closures or severe weather.
Projected cost of the system is $28,000.
Participation in the system is voluntary and citizens would be responsible for providing contact information to the county for participation.
The system can use email, cell phone, landlines or text messaging to send alerts to citizens.
New Emergency Management Director Scotty Stokes has made the system a priority project since joining the county.
Other action items include several resolutions to dispose of equipment from Commissioner Mike Helm’s district.
Helm is requesting that seven tractors, approximately three or four years in age, be traded to P&K equipment.
Helm recently approved a bid to P&K for several new tractors, and the seven tractors, if traded, will lower the final purchase price paid on the new equipment.
Additionally, Helm said it is his plan to purchase new equipment on a yearly basis to lower equipment repair costs.
BKL Inc. and Flintco will be providing an update on the construction of the E911 Center and courthouse projects.
The commissioners will also be discussing the dedication of the new courthouse.
