K&S Development Planned Urban Development received approval Monday for the zoning change needed to begin the construction on Fossil Creek subdivision.
Two weeks ago, Rogers County Commissioners gave approval after concerned neighbors voiced issues with the PUD, resulting in a meeting between developers, engineers and Rogers County Planning Commission Director Larry Curtis.
The neighborhood meeting allowed the surrounding property owners to weigh in on the development of Fossil Creek and reach compromises with developers under the PUD structure of planning, according to Curtis.
Some of the issues addressed included concern for residential water runoff, a privacy fence, traffic control and the implementation of a homeowners association.
All the issues were met with solutions, according to Curtis.
The neighborhood will include entrances from both 161st Street and State Highway 20.
The developer agreed to put a privacy fence between the development and the existing neighborhood to help with noise and animal concerns or residents.
The fence will be installed prior to the beginning of the construction phase.
The roadway will be expanded to address traffic concerns including a turn lane, according to Curtis.
When the item came back before the commissioners none of the neighbors spoke in opposition to the development. Fossil Creek will be located on 161st Street near Owasso.
Engineer Brian Kellogg and Developer Brian Doyle are working on the project that will add approximately 80 new homes to the area.
