Holiday spirit to continue into the New Year

CLAREMORE — Rogers County employees are sharing the Christmas spirit with the children of the office for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) through an Angel Tree.

The tree that was sponsored by the Rogers County Commissioner’s office was placed in the hallway of the courthouse.
“The tree was only up for three days before all the angels were adopted,” said Christine Day, office manager for the commissioners.
County employees stepped in to make the season special for the kids of CASA, she added.
“I think it is a very deserving organization that helps the kids in our county,” said Commissioner Kirt Thacker. “CASA does great work for the children by giving them a voice.”
The Rogers County Commissioners are doing more than just help promote the Angel tree, the board approved a measure that will give office space to the organization in the new courthouse.
“The work CASA does for the children is an investment for the future of Rogers County,” Thacker said.
It was important that we found a place for them in the building, he added. If people come into the courthouse to file protective orders or conduct other sensitive business the kids will have a place to go, Day said.
The new office space will feature an addition that will serve as a playroom for kids.
This play area will help protect kids from the complicated situations their parents may be dealing with, according to Day.
