E911 Trust Authority hires legal counsel

CLAREMORE —

The Roges County E911 Trust Authority officially hired Jim Orbison Thursday as legal counsel.
Orbison, of the Tulsa law firm —  Riggs, Abney, Neal, Tupen, Orbison and Lewis — previously represented Rogers County in their interest in the formation of the trust and currently represents the Rogers County Criminal Justice Authority.
Assistant District Attorney David Iski will be representing the Rogers County Board of County Commissioners as a beneficiary of the 911 Trust.
Iski and Orbison worked together during the formation of the trust and creation of the trust’s indenture documents. The commissioners recently approved a measure to pay legal expenses for the authority through December 2013, Orbison said.
It was approved to give the trust time to build revenue to pay expenses, according to commissioner Dan DeLozier.
The commissioners are requesting the authority reimburse the county for the legal fees before March 2014.
In other business, Orbison presented the first amendment to the trust documents, allowing the town of Inola to accept beneficial interest in the authority.
Also, trust members reviewed current appropriations for the entity.
The towns of Inola, Chelsea, Talala and Oologah accepted beneficial interest in July. However, Catoosa, Verdigris and Claremore municipalities have not made a formal decision to join.
Foyil government officials have reviewed the documents for accepting beneficial interests determining the town does not meet the requirements. Foyil does not have municipal police or fire departments.
E911 Director Janet Hamilton presented the appropriation ledger of monthly expenses to the board.
In July, $50,139 was spent from E911 funds, including approximately $1,900 for maintenance and operations. The remaining funds were dedicated to employee salaries.
The E911 funds currently have a balance of approximately $1.1 million, including $222,907 in deposits for July.
