County finalizes emergency manager

CLAREMORE — On Monday, the Rogers County Commissioners finalized the employment of Scotty Stokes as the new Emergency Management Director.

Commissioner Dan DeLozier was in attendance just days after surgery due to an accident last week.
DeLozier, Kirt Thacker and Mike Helm were unanimous in the decision to hire Stokes.
Stokes is scheduled to start March 11 and will be paid $43,000 annually, according to Thacker.
The commissioners thanked Kelly Deal and Brandi Pond of Oologah Talala Emergency Management for their assistance during the transition.
“I appreciate Kelly filling in,” Helm said.
“It has been our pleasure,” Deal said.
“You and Brandi have been a big help,” DeLozier said.
Deal will stay on an additional two weeks after Stokes begins to help with the transition, according to Thacker.
There were 24 applicants for the position, according to Human Resource Director Jenny Bentley.
“Stokes’ professionalism, experience and background were the basis for the choice,” Thacker said. “We had some good applicants, he was the best of the group.”
Stokes joins Rogers County after serving as a Fire Captain for the Tulsa Fire Department.
