The Rogers County Commissioners approved Monday $1.2 million in construction payments for the new courthouse and E911 Center projects.
Courthouse construction is complete. Only one invoice remains to be paid on “contractual items,” according to Flintco Project Manager Steve Rumsey.
Rumsey said progress on the E911 center continues and the steel walls are currently being built. The roof will likely be added next week, he added.
Flintco will also be remodeling the Rogers County Jail courtroom to house the Rogers County Emergency Management Operations Center.
“We got all the pricing finalized and sent out in email form,” Rumsey said. “We will start in three weeks and it will be three to four weeks for construction.”
The eight-week project will delay the courthouse auction and demolition, however, the commissioners are working to make the final arrangements.
The board is considering the use of the Claremore Expo Center as a site for the auction. Mike Graham Auctions will be present at next Monday’s meeting to present options to the board, according to Alan Carter, District 2 employee.
Carter works for Commissioner Mike Helm and as an auctioneer in his personal time. Helm requested Carter’s help in assisting in the arrangements due to his experience. Carter said Mike Graham Auctions would be available during July and early August, however no price estimates have been provided at this time referring to the cost as a “moving target.”
“There are a couple more issues to work out on the liability with Assistant District Attorney David Iski,” Carter said.
“We really have an eight-week window,” Helm said, speaking of the completion of the EOC renovations in the jail.
Completion of the EOC is set for the middle of July, according to Flintco representatives. This will allow time for county officials to prepare for the auction. Each county barn will also be gathering items for sale.
