May 8 Voters last chance for absentee ballot

CLAREMORE —

Rogers County voters have only a few more days to request an absentee ballot for the upcoming May 14 One-Cent Tax election.
Absentee ballots must be in the hands of election board employees no later then 5 p.m. May 8, according to Election Board Secretary Julie Dermody.
Voters need to plan ahead if mailing applications to insure they are received by the deadline.
“Any registered voter eligible to vote in the election may vote by absentee ballot without stating a reason,” Dermody said. “Absentee voters may apply in person at the election board office, located at 415 West 1st Street in Claremore or they may send their applications by mail or by fax at (918) 341-4666.”
Voters may apply for an absentee ballot for several reasons, according to Dermody.
Registered voters who are physically incapacitated and voters who care for physically incapacitated persons who cannot be left unattended may apply for absentee ballots only by mail or by fax.
Registered voters who are confined to nursing homes in the county may apply only by mail or by fax.
Military personnel, residents of Rogers County living overseas and the spouses and dependents of each group are entitled to vote without being registered.
They may apply only by mail e-mail or by fax, Dermody said.
For more information on absentee voting, contact the Rogers County Election Board at (918)341-2965 or visit www.rogerscountyelectionboard.org.
