Voter registration closes Friday

CLAREMORE — Voter registration for the upcoming Nov. 6 General Election will be closing on Oct. 12 and those approaching their 18th birthday need to remember it is not to late to sign up to vote.

“I want to encourage everyone to get their registrations in,” said Julie Dermody, election board secretary. “If they [citizens] are not sure about where or if they are registered they can call the election board office at (918) 342-2965.”
Citizens that would like their name changed or address modified must complete the paperwork by the same date.
“If your 18th birthday comes before or on Nov. 6 you must register by Oct. 12,” said Julie Dermody, election board secretary.
QuickTrip, Will Rogers Library, local post offices and other locations in Rogers County have registration forms available. Registration forms are also online at It would be good for citizens to verify registrations, according to Dermody.
“People need to remember that if they have voted in the same place they need to check their cards to make sure they will be in the right place on Nov. 6,” Dermody said.
Even though the election board has sent out new cards, it is possible that citizens have been reassigned to a new place, according to Dermody.
Voters must provide a valid voter ID or a government issued photo ID in order to vote, she said.
Absentee ballots can still be requested until 5 p.m. on Oct. 30. Dermody would like to remind voters that the upcoming Nov. 6 election will feature a number of items and voters need to be prepared. The ballot will include six state questions and a number of elected positions.
