Council to finalize city manager

CLAREMORE — The Claremore City Council will be making some big decisions Monday as the city works to finalize city manager negotiations with “candidate 2” and hold the final public hearing for the Tax Increment Finance District.

Councilors decided last week after completing interviews to extend an offer and begin contract negotiations with an applicant only referred to as “candidate 2.”
The council is expected to finalize the contract and make an announcement regarding the new city manager during the meeting.
A public hearing will be held to hear concerns regarding the creation of a TIF district. The district will support the new development at Baker Hughes as well as the North Industrial Park. Additionally, the TIF will provide a funding mechanism for $4 million in upgrades to the city electrical infrastructure.
Construction of the new substation is underway and the TIF district will assist with funding options.
In other business, the council will continue discussions concerning the city sign ordinance in a public hearing. Concerned citizens are encouraged to participate.
