Cardinals soar past Oologah, 44-17

OOLOGAH — The Collinsville Cardinals knocked off their Highway 169 neighbor Oologah Mustangs 44-17 Friday night.

Both teams start district play on Friday. Collinsville (2-1) plays at Claremore (5A-4) while Oologah (1-2) has its homecoming game against Vinita (4A-3).

Running backs Ryan Haymaker and Jimmy McKinney had big nights for their respective sides.

Haymaker finshed with a game-high 194 yards rushing on 16 carries and scored five touchdowns for the Cardinals.

McKinney had a team-high 149 yards on 16 carries and scored a touchdown for the Mustangs.

Collinsville scored twice in a 19 second span in the first quarter. The first points came on a safety after Oologah snapped the ball out of the end zone on a punt attempt at the 7:02 mark.

Haymaker then followed with a 47-yard touchdown run down the left sideline to put the Cardinals ahead 9-0.

The Mustangs got on the board courtesy of a 1-yard plunge from McKinney with 3:39 remaining in the first period.

Collinsville stretched its lead to 16-7 after Shawn Koscheski connected with Keenan Hamilton on a 6-yard scoring strike at the 10:36 mark of the second quarter.

Oologah answered when Payton Craig fired a 44-yard touchdown pass to Keenen Ferrier on third and 17 with 5:11 remaining in the first half.

The Cardinals scored just 75 seconds into the second half. Haymaker did the honors with a 28-yard touchdown gallop.

The Mustangs got points on their opening drive of the second half also. Wyatt Tucker made a 23 yard field goal to cut the deficit to 23-17 at the 8:07 mark of the third period.

Collinsville answered on its next possession, however, as Haymaker found the end zone again from 15 yards out with 3:52 left in the third quarter.

Haymaker then stretched the advantage to 37-17 when he scored on a 58-yard run with 1:29 remaining in the third period.

Haymaker added his final touchdown on a 5-yard run with 7:46 to play.
