Published April 26, 2008 03:02 pm - Lilac Festival coming May 10 Claremore Main Street will host the Lilac Festival, Saturday, May 10, from 2-10 p.m. in downtown Claremore.
Festivities include a Cruisin’ Claremore Car Show featuring classic cars and motorcycles, Three Rivers Art Show, and a Children’s Activity Area with make and take arts and crafts, sidewalk art, poster coloring and inflatables. The Lilac Express train made up of 15 box cars with a locomotive and caboose decorated by 15 local fourth grade art classes will be showcased, and a children’s parade will march through town. Children are encouraged to decorate themselves and their bike, trike or wagon in the lilac theme or color. Other events include the Lilac Live! Talent Show and an outdoor movie. Care Mare for Claremore’s Campaign for Lilacs will have lilac bushes for purchase in honor of Claremore’s native son, Lynn Riggs.
