A voice for common ground

Editor

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for (the) article on April 11, 2008, concerning common ground on the “alien” issue. I can’t recall right off hand a more non-critical nor less accusatory article than this one by Walt Thrun. It was indeed refreshing to see a logical intelligent and constructive argument for Conservatives and Liberals working together to solve a major threat to our way of life in America. The fact that he profoundly puts the solution in the context of our founding father’s vision for America is evidence of an even deeper insight into the nature of America than some may not have realized initially.

I, personally, would like to see more articles of this caliber that offer substantive and constructive guidelines on how to approach such calamitous problems as immigration and the surreptitious undermining of American culture. His perspective reveals methods that can be analyzed jointly by the political left and right with our founding fathers intentions as the mutual guideline. I would bet heavily that Mr. Thrun has a lot more to say on this and other related subjects, and I think such information from him would be a valuable asset to the public in general.

So, again, I appeal to your sense of cultural survival to bring this message to the American people with the admonition that it’s time to wake up and start resisting this ominous threat of illegal immigration and the deadly, and steadily increasing encroachment of radical Islam which has openly declared its goal of world domination. I can’t think of a better advocate than Mr. Thrun. American journalism is woefully quiet on these deadly encroachments and I, for one, feel it would be a great opportunity for your paper to become a knowledgeable source of information on these very timely and deadly serious issues.

What’s the

real story?

Editor,

Although the CLAREMORE PROGRESS article of Sunday, April 6, “Million dollar mistake” indicated April 7 agenda would include an item for (Commissioner Kirt) Thacker to discuss this issue with the other two Commissioners, it was omitted as ADA Barry Farbro didn't have adequate time to review the case last week. Mr. Thacker indicated on April 7, he hoped to have the situation of Ms. Brown's "mistake" concerning a purchase order in excess of one million dollars reviewed by Mr. Farbro and on next week's agenda.

I understand why Mr. Thacker couldn't discuss details of Ms. Brown's firing to the news reporter (who wrote the article) and with those in attendance at the meeting (due to privacy rules for all County employees). However, I do wonder what else has been discovered, as one mistake should not be the cause for a newly trained employee's firing. (By the way, Ms. Brown was trained by Cindy Rash, a co-conspirator witness against former Commissioner Randy Baldridge).

The initial work in question began with estimates and work started in October 2007 (that's over five months ago). I am baffled that over one million dollars in work could be overlooked for such a length of time. Did Mr. Thacker not check this work (and by the way, which D3 area was the fortunate recipient of this work?), and did it not seem strange that he had not signed a PO for such a great amount?

I do hope the issue involving Ms. Brown doesn't involve anything like the issues which sent Mr. Baldridge 1,500 miles from family and friends.

Katheryn M. Hinesley, Claremore
