Police Chief: Cumming provided positive impact on city’s quality of life

CLAREMORE — Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter with the intent to express appreciation to a person who has had a positive impact on the quality of life in the City of Claremore.

Jennifer Cummings, the Animal Control Supervisor for the City of Claremore, recently informed me that she has chosen to resign from her employment with the City effective April 8th, 2011. Jennifer began her employment with the City’s Animal Shelter in September 2005. Since that time she has implemented many important programs and services to our City.

She has, at times with limited staff and financial resources, built the City of Claremore Animal Shelter into a facility which has received recognition in some national bulletins relating to her area of service. Her leadership, at the helm of adoption and spay/neuter programs, has resulted in a marked reduction of animal control and animal health issues in our City.

Her dedication to professionalism and service to others above self require that I respond in kind for the Citizens of the City of Claremore when I say a sincere, “Thanks for your service and we wish you the best in your future endeavors”.

Sincerely,

Stan Brown

Chief of Police

  • Duty and rest rules for commercial pilots delayed

    Dear Editor,
I’ve read, with interest, Andy Pasztor’s r article in the 02 August edition of the WSJ on the latest delay in the publication of a final rule to update the decades-old duty and rest rules for most commercial flight operations. It has to be a great challenge to take a complex technical issue and reduce it to understandable terms for a general readership.
