CLAREMORE — Bakers departure real loss to Claremore

Dear Editor,

Being an avid sports fan, I should be use to coaches, and players moving on to other endeavors.

That being the nature of their chosen profession. Usually I handle that as just being a sports fan, and accept it as part of the game. However the loss of Wren and Heather Baker from RSU is the single most disappointment I have endured as a fan, and being a Cubs fan there has been a lot of disappointments.

Claremore is losing a tremendous couple who have been great for the University and community.

I join hundreds of others who wish them the best of everything in their future, and thank them both, for their friendship and contribution to all of Claremore.

Ray Bingham

American Red Cross thanks all supporters

Dear Editor,

As we begin our journey into 2011, I would like to take a moment and say thank you for everyone’s support of your American Red Cross last year.

Thank you to our many volunteers, donors, service center board members and staff, for your dedication and contributions of time, money and blood making it possible for your American Red Cross to continue its mission to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, that included responding to 80 home fires and providing more than $53,103 in disaster assistance. Whenever and wherever the need, thanks to you, we were there.

Thank you to our area media, who graciously ran stories providing safety information.

Thank you to the dedicated members of the fire departments, law enforcement departments, emergency management centers, ambulance services, county health departments, and all other organizations and agencies who ensure our safety and welfare on a daily basis.

If there is any way that we at the Rogers/Mayes/Wagoner County Service Center can be of service to you, please give us a call at (918) 343-1803 or stop by the service center office at 400 W. Will Rogers Blvd., Claremore.

  • Duty and rest rules for commercial pilots delayed

    Dear Editor,
I’ve read, with interest, Andy Pasztor’s r article in the 02 August edition of the WSJ on the latest delay in the publication of a final rule to update the decades-old duty and rest rules for most commercial flight operations. It has to be a great challenge to take a complex technical issue and reduce it to understandable terms for a general readership.
