Published May 14, 2008 10:56 am - Pazzo returning to Will Rogers Memorial Commission Gov. Brad Henry has recommended Claremore attorney Steve Pazzo Jr. for reappointment to the Will Rogers Memorial Commission. The term expires March 1, 2014. Senate confirmation is required.
Pazzo was first appointed in 2003 by Gov. Henry to replace Kent Frizzell, who resigned. A native of Enid, Pazzo came to Claremore while he was in elementary school. He graduated from Claremore High School in 1990 and earned a degree from Oklahoma State University. He is a 1999 graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Law. He is a member of Oklahoma Bar Association and Tulsa and Rogers County Bar Associations. In 2005, he was named Tri-County CASA Attorney of the Year and currently serves as a board member for the William Barnes Children’s Advocacy Center. He and his wife, Cheena, director of public relations and marketing for St. John Medical Center, are parents of Sophie, six, and Owen, four. The Commission provides oversight for operations of the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore and Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch near Oologah as well as the Will Rogers Heritage Inc. Other members are Chairman Jim Hartz of Washington, D.C.; Kem Rogers, grandson of Will Rogers, who lives in Tennessee; Steve Turnbo, Tulsa public relations executive; Paul H. Johnson, Tulsa attorney; Deacon Turner, Tulsa financier; and Cara Cowan-Watts, Claremore, Cherokee Nation tribal councilwoman.
