Burglary spree targets 12 businesses

Claremore police are looking for the person or persons responsible for a series of commercial break-ins and vandalisms over the weekend.
According to Claremore Police investigator Keith Heskett, a dozen businesses were either robbed or vandalized between roughly 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. early Sunday morning.
“Around 2 a.m. Sunday, suspects made entry into All State Insurance Company on North Lynn Riggs by prying open their front door,” Heskett said. “Additionally, the suspects kicked in the doors to the adjacent establishments of Dake Real Estate and Sew It Up.”
From the three businesses, all that was reported stolen was $600 in (postal) stamps from All State, before moving southward on Lynn Riggs and striking again.
“It’s our belief that all these break-ins are related because — with minor exceptions — they tracked north to south along Highway 66,” Heskett said.
Other businesses hit early Sunday included Taco Tico, which reported no cash, but frozen hamburger stolen, ABC Plumbing and Akin Plumbing.
In each instance, Heskett said entry was made by forcing the business’ front or side door with some sort of prying tool, such as a crowbar or pry bar.
“Nothing was stolen or disturbed, which, we were told by Claremore police, means we were among the ‘lucky’ ones, but the front door is ruined — it will have to be replaced,” said Phyllis Frederick, vice-president, ABC Plumbing.
“After the suspects hit Akin, from where they stole $120 in cash, they continued southward, attempting to break into Pro Cuts, but abandoning it when they broke a window,” he said. “They then hit Top Nail, where they made away with an undisclosed amount of cash and basically ransacked the place.”
Other businesses targeted that night included The Pub, Simply Scrapbooks and Goldie’s in Ne-Mar Center, and finally Eason Collision, with the final break-ins reported just after 4 a.m. Sunday.
“At this point, we do not have any leads on suspects, but we did recover items we believe to be evidence at some of the scenes, are currently
fingerprinting them,” Heskett said.
