County commissioners approved a CASA Angel Tree, an annual road inspection contract and other routine business at Monday’s Board meeting.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) routinely place trees at various locations around Rogers County. These trees allow concerned citizens to “adopt and angel” and buy Christmas presents for children who are in the court system.
“These are all Rogers County foster children,” said Tri County CASA Program Director Angela Henderson.
Depending on where you shop, gifts will run a total between $50 and $75, said Henderson.
Henderson told commissioners the CASA Angel Tree had been on the second floor but had not done well the past two years. CASA requested permission to erect the tree and to put it on the main floor where the primary courthouse traffic will see it.
County Clerk Peggy Armstrong has agreed to allow members of her office staff to handle the small amount of paperwork involved with the project.
In other business, commissioners approved an Oklahoma Department of Transportation claim form for Guy Engineering Services, Inc. for $1,965 for annual inspections of county road system bridges for all three county districts.
The county also accepted a “perpetual easement” from the State of Oklahoma Turnpike Authority on a tract of land for a bridge on Pine Street in District 2.
In other business commissioners:
• approved transfer of funds from part-time salaries to travel $2,500 to pay for education classes for the commissioners new secretary Christine Willhoite-Day
• approved transfer of funds from Election Board M&O to capital outlay to replace a computer according to Election Board Secretary Rebecca Dealy
• tabled discussion of reassignment of D2 employee LeRoy Garrison to county courthouse maintenance pending budget discussions
• approved claim to State of Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs $3,250 for October for Alternatives to Detention/Transportation
• approved blanket purchase orders for Sheriff’s Jail to Correctional Dental Service $2,000, Diamond Drugs $6,000, Diamond Medical Supply $500, St. Francis Lab $1,200, PHS Mobile X-ray $600; Sheriff’s General for fuel to D1 $5,000, D2 $3,000, D3 $6,000, Froman Oil $300 and for vehicle maintenance to Speedy Lube $500; Sheriff’s Board of Prisoners to Bimbo Bakeries $1,300, Farmers Brothers Coffee $300, Sysco Foods (fruits and vegetables) $3,200 and (food) $7,100, Warehouse Market $300; D2 to Fleet Service of Tulsa for hydraulics repair on gradall $5,000
