Cherokee Nation announces available low-income housing

CLAREMORE — Cherokee Nation is announcing the availability of several large one and two-bedroom apartments in Vinita, Claremore and Porum. The complexes are managed by Cherokee Nation and provide housing to low-income families. To qualify a member of the family must be a citizen of a federally recognized tribe; preference will be given to Cherokees.

Cherokee Nation’s Housing Services is looking for suitable families and seniors whose income is below 80 percent of the National Median Income and can pass a background check and reference screening. Rent is based on 30 percent of the family’s adjusted income and the security deposit will be waived; tenants will be responsible for their own utilities.

Applications can be picked up or submitted at Housing Service locations, 900 McNelis Dr. #31-B, Vinita, Okla., 23205 S Highway 66, Claremore, Okla. or Quapaw Drive in Porum. Applicants can also request to have an application sent by mail by contacting 918-256-5382 or 918-342-2433.
