Rogers County crews hit a water line while working on the north side of the building Wednesday, prompting closure of the courthouse for the afternoon.
Crews accidentally hit the main water line while trying to find a second line for the installation of the new sprinkler system.
“The two lines are located right next to each other,” according Rogers County Maintenance Director Ryan Baze.
“The main line, is cast iron and was pulled apart causing a leak,” he said.
The courthouse was closed because the water had to be shut off, for repairs. The building is required to provide restrooms to the public when open.
Rogers County Commissioner Kirt Thacker requested the building be closed due to the temporary inability to meet this requirement.
The courthouse is scheduled to reopen Thursday, according to Baze.
“I won’t leave work today until the leak is repaired,” Baze said.
