Share the Spirit deadline: Thursday

Sally is a single mom of two pre-teen boys,  Alex and Sam. Both are doing well in school, making all As and Bs  and excelling in sports.
They are also very respectful young men. Alex’s favorite thing to do is dance and Sam loves sports.
Sally attributes her sons to helping her stay strong in their situation. She is currently out of work due to health issues and no transportation to get to work.
Sally is Cherokee Indian and they are currently helping her with shelter only. Her last job was in July and upon leaving the job, she sold her car to pay her medical bills. She now regrets the decision due to not having any transportation to get to interviews and being reliable on the job.
“She is currently working on bettering herself so she and her sons can have a stable, happy and healthy future without worrying where things are going to come from,” said Grace Crossley with the Department of Human Services. “Her hope is that she can get her feet under her soon and be able to provide for her sons without worry of how. She hopes to accomplish this by getting a job and being able to support herself without relying on others. With all of this being said, she and her sons would like to thank everyone in the community for everything they have done and are currently doing to help them.”
Thanks to the generosity of Progress readers, Share the Spirit will be providing Christmas dinner for the family and hundreds of others throughout the county.
There is still time to give. Many more donations are needed to meet Share the Spirit’s $24,000 goal by Thursday’s deadline. Just over half has been raised so far, with the current total at $12,165.
